While they didn’t end the drought, they damaged the crops. In December, a series of rainstorms struck the state. The conditions - first drought, then intense rains - contributed to a 28 per cent decline in the division’s profit last quarter.Ĭalifornia’s record-setting drought has forced Campbell to shift harvesting to farms that weren’t as hard hit, as well as increasing land and water costs. His performance vs Postol is difficult to rate as Ramirez usually feeds off the crowd and also Postol’s size and style didn’t let him shine. And his blend of boxing and fighting, plus his southpaw stance, will pose problems for Ramirez in kind. But I think the Scotsman has more than proved that he can deal with pressure, volume punching, willfulness and physical strength during the 24 rounds he went with Ivan Baranchyk and Prograis in back-to-back fights last year. Ramirez’s style poses problems for anyone in the 140-pound top 10, not just Taylor. I think Ramirez’ style might pose some problems for Taylor and might surprise some. His style (constant pressure backed by combination punching a mean body attack) and strengths (rock-solid chin, good stamina) are just as difficult to overcome as Postol’s constant movement and pesky jab. Some people are saying that’s an easy pick, that Taylor is going to beat him handily. No disrespect to Postol (or his new legion of Twitter admirers), but I’d rather see Regis Prograis get a crack at the undisputed champ first. Tough break for Postol, but he might retain his high ranking in the WBC and, if he scores an interim win or two, could get back to his mandatory position and challenge the eventual winner of Taylor-Ramirez for all the marbles. Ramirez, Taylor and Top Rank have made no secret of that. I think Postol deserves a rematch but if I was Ramirez I would stay away from him and move directly to a Josh Taylor fight. I didn’t see many adjustments being made. Ramirez had a good start (in my opinion), struggled in Rounds 5 and 6, had a strong Round 7 and 8, but then faded down the stretch. It took Taylor – who is not yet universally considered a pound-for-pound level boxer, but I believe he should be rated above Ramirez at 140 – longer to figure out Postol than Crawford, but he did so by the late rounds. Crawford, an elite fighter, figured Postol out after two difficult rounds. the stick-and-move specialist and the way Terence Crawford and Josh Taylor boxed Postol – they were much better at making adjustments (which help set up the knockdowns they scored in those bouts). Having said that, there’s one big difference between Ramirez’s performance vs. There were few rounds where I thought Postol clearly got the better of Ramirez. However, I thought Ramirez’s strengths – pressure, volume and punch selection – outdid Postol’s strengths in the majority of rounds. the Ukrainian, who has a world-class jab, moves well and has expert timing. Postol had more to do with styles than it did with any shortcomings as boxer. What do you think Doug? Is Ramirez overrated like some are saying, did we see his true colors? Were his weaknesses exposed? Or is this more of a styles make fights kinda thing? If it’s in any of those places I might pick him. Vs Taylor if circumstances are different I see him being more energetic and being able to match Josh’s aggressiveness and strengths, specially if the fight is held in Ramirez turf with a crowd (Fresno, Texas, LA). Now, I think Postol deserves a rematch but if I was Ramirez I would stay away from him and move directly to a Josh Taylor fight. There were a couple of early rounds that could’ve been scored for Postol but I gave them to Ramirez so I can definitely see a draw or even a Postol win. In the end I thought the fight was close but for Ramirez 7-5. Ramirez was overwhelming him and sometimes even hurting him in some rounds until he tired enough for Viktor to start using his weapons. Once he has you at the end of his one two, he’s got you. Postol is a difficult boxer for anybody out there. Ramirez took the early rounds, the middle rounds were close, and Postol figured something out and took a lot of the late rounds. One thing’s for sure I watched every round closely and as they went on thought that they were getting closer and closer to a point that I found it difficult to score from my TV.Īndre Ward was very good in his commentary and he basically said what I was thinking when he summarized the fight in the 12th. In Belgium, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Ireland, Israel, the Netherlands, and Romania, the yellow pages are known as the Golden Pages. They are edited by many different phone companies and directory publishers, mostly independent from each other. Telephone directories using the official internet address "yellowpages.xx" exist in 75 different countries. The term Yellow Pages is not a registered name within the United States and is freely used by many companies. In the United States, it refers to the category, while in some other countries it is a registered name and therefore a proper noun. Today, the expression yellow pages is used globally, in both English-speaking and non-English speaking countries. Donnelley created the first official Yellow Pages directory, inventing an industry. The name and concept of "yellow pages" came about in 1883, when a printer in Cheyenne, Wyoming, working on a regular telephone directory ran out of white paper and used yellow paper instead. Depth of field I shot this with an aperture of ƒ16. But the size of the aperture still affects the sharpness of the picture. An actual camera uses a lens to focus the incoming light. So you see, while a larger aperture (or hole) lets in more light, it also makes the image more blurred. If you put a sheet of photographic film or paper inside a box, then punch a tiny pinhole in the other end of the box, it works the exact same way, only you can actually record an image. That’s why your regular window-size window doesn’t project an image on the wall. As you increase the size of the hole, the image on the wall will blur more and more. If the image is too dim, or you don’t see one at all, try making the hole a little bigger. This image will be a copy of the scene outside your window. On the wall opposite the window you’ll see an image, upside down and back to front. On a sunny day, cover the windows in a room to make the room as dark as possible. Here’s an example you can try at home: the pinhole camera, or camera obscura. That’s because, when reduced in size, a hole turns into a lens, and can focus the light coming through it. Changing the aperture can have an even bigger visual effect on the image, because it controls how much of the picture is sharp. Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of MacĪs we saw, a camera’s shutter can be used to control how sharp or blurred a moving object will appear in your photos. Here, even the tip of the nose is blurred. How aperture affects your image Extremely-limited depth of field is great for portraits. These sheets are moved behind the lens to control light levels. Some old cameras have interchangeable metal sheets with different-sized holes punched into them. These aperture blades shift to control the size of the hole. As these blades shift together, the size of the hole changes. The most common aperture design uses five or more blades arranged like in the image below. Just like the iris in the eye, a bigger hole lets in more light, and a smaller hole lets in less. The aperture is a diaphragm inside the lens, the size of which can be adjusted.
